Keeping it simple- go there, sit at the bar near the kitchen and watch the chef and staff make magic. Favorites: buttery and tender scallops! Amazing French toast bread pudding with hints of bacon and a cinnamon ice cream scoop to boot...or the basic fish and chips - not sure anything on the menu is a bad choice -- Will be back

We came here based on 4.5 star rating on Yelp. Very disappointed with both the food and service. First negative course was the appetizer, PEI mussels. They were unusually large and tough and tasted rather fishy. One of our party ordered a slow-roasted bbq pork entree with fried oysters. He received a piece of pork belly instead of pulled pork or ribs that he expected. He couldn't eat the highly fatty meat. Another person in our party ordered a wedge salad with chicken added. She expected a chicken breast but received a chicken thigh. She sent her meal back. The manager came out and said the restaurant doesn't offer chicken breasts. The service was unacceptably slow. We waited more than a half-hour from the time we received our appetizer until the entrees arrived. These were unceremoniously dropped off by another waiter. Our waiter didn't check on us or refill water glasses. One of our party finally took his glass to the bar for a refill. On our way out, our host stopped to politely tell the manager that we thought there were opportunities for improvement. Rather than apologizing for any issues we had with the food or service, he was dismissive and clearly not interested in customer feedback. Maybe he thought that Labor Day diners will leave this beach community for the season so aren't worth the effort to please, but our host owns a home here. And he won't be coming back.

Great service, great food.......and during the shoulder seasons, the prices can not be beat. They constantly change up the menu, but I have had at least 6 different main courses, and they were all great. Pork bellies??? yes, really good. Seafood stew, yes...excellent. Crab cake ...very good. Hamburgers and tacos (shoulder season), the best!!. one of our 'go to' restaurants on the shore.

Stopped by for a quick lunch following a long drive to the beach. While we enjoyed our meals, I can't shake the feeling that the main draw here is the dinner menu. I had the fried oyster po' boy, served with aioli on a toasted bun. Fries on the side came sprinkled with sea salt. The fried oysters here were very well done. Extremely moist, not chewy, and served hot off out of the fryer. Wish I could say the same for the fries, as they ran in to the all too common "been sitting under the heat lamp too long" problem. Unfortunately, the lunch menu is limited. I don't think the appeal of Just Hooked comes from lunch, but I've gotta review the meal I ordered. I'll definitely be back in the future to try out the dinner menu. Recommended with reservations. The main focus of Just Hooked seems to be the dinner menu, and while lunch isn't bad, your choices on the menu are relatively few.

Modern restaurant with a homey feel. Our hostess and server we friendly and welcoming. We met the owner as she walked around the restaurant checking on guests. She interacted with our young children and made us feel like old friends. There was a nice selection of craft beer (draft and bottle). I ordered a stout, wife orders wine, happy with both. No pairings suggested. My wife ordered the Cobb salad and asked for no Blue cheese. They do not put any on. The Cobb was light and refreshing. Also ordered, fried green tomatoes with an aioli. Exactly what I wanted, well done. Finally, the crabcake. Huge delicious mound of crab, sitting in a light remoulade. Fingerling potatoes were the best I have tasted. DO NOT make any changes to your preferences when ordering, they know what they are doing. High quality, appropriate pricing for fine dining (we wanted more than subs and pizza at the beach) great atmosphere and friendly staff. We had a great experience.

Loved! Fried green tomato salad, yummy layers of flavor, watermelon salad, light and delicious. Filet and shrimp, cooked well, paired with heirloom tomato salad. Pig & Oysters- pork belly was delicious, oysters where cooked well but not a lot of flavor...maybe some cayenne in the breading would be good? Paired with street corn & slaw, both delicious! Bumbleberry pie for dessert, yum.

It was pretty good I got the pig and oysters it was good. My 18 month son ate most of the corn , he enjoyed it the cole slaw was trash.(I've had better at KFC) my girl got the crab cake and she enjoyed it. Service was good menu was limited. Not a bad experience at all overall. P.S. Can I get some ice with my water......

Had dinner here Saturday night and everything was delicous. From the homemade rosemary rolls, delicous mussels served in a white wine sherry - good for dipping your bread! Fish and chips with Cole slaw- light batter with buttermilk dipping sauce and scallops served over cheesy grits. Oh and try the "Not your fathers Rootbeer" Service was impeccable and top notch!! We won't forget this place and you shouldn't either.

Very disappointing. We have visited several times before and have enjoyed the food and service, but both were average to bad last night. We were rushed through the meal as though we were at McDonalds, even though there was no one waiting and plenty of open tables. Entree showing up as we took our last bite of appetizers. We eat pretty fast, so for some else they would probably still be on appetizers. About 25% of our calamari was a huge uncut piece. When we mentioned it to the waitress she neither appoligized nor seemed to care, explaining where on the squid it came from, totally missing the point. The tuna was a nice cut but the seasoning was lack luster. Shrimp and grits, the Shrimp was slightly over cooked. The grits, just ok. Everything was totally over power by the sauce, so it was hard to really taste anything. It was topped by chilli threads, which I can only describe by saying have you ever eaten food with a hair in it. That's what a chilli thread feels like when you eat it. The chicken was Ok. All that and they has us in and out in under 30 mins, not exactly the experience we were looking for given the price.

Great service, great drinks and great food all describe this establishment. A table of 5 we all enjoyed our experience thoroughly. Very attentive service and very tasty entrees. Would definitely go back when in the area.

The food here is delicious! Although the menu looks strikingly similar to their sister restaurant (Off the Hook), the food at this location is far superior. We had the calamari, caesar salad, fried green tomatoes, and the tuna entree. Everything was fantastic. My only issue is that it isn't a well ventilated space (I reeked of bacon for hours afterwards; to be noted: I don't eat bacon). Also, on summer weekends, plan for a considerable wait.

I was in town during the week and they have specials, we went in for Ladies Night. We started with some wine and ordered the Combination fried seafood appetizer. The Calamari is so tender- a small bowl but enough for 2 people. The sea scallops are divided in half then fried, cooked to perfection(4). Pretty good size large shrimp too (4). My entree was the Fish & Chips - was cod or haddock but thick pieces (3) tender and a very light batter. Served with Cut potato fries. We had some of their fresh made bread which was drizzled with olive oil - it was so good! I will be back many more times !! Staff were locals and very friendly. The quality of the food, the awesome flavor makes you want to try all the dishes !! I'm Hooked!

My wife and I on a last minute opportunity to go out for finer dinning decided to try Just Hooked. We had friend last year tell us about it, but did not have a chase to check it out. Well I must say I was totally impressed, the service was excellent, the owner walks around and talks to his customers creating a friendly environment. I ordered the seared Scallops with roasted corn over cheese grits. I dine out a lot for work and by far this was the best Scallop dish I have ever had. I highly recommend trying this place, it is now on my favorite spot to go each year.

9/10 across the board. Stowed away north of all the flashy neon signs of the typical Ocean City tourist-trap eatery, Just Hooked is appropriately nestled in Fenwick Island. I'd consider it in the "hidden jewel" classification except it's obviously not so hidden among nearby residents. Without a doubt a local favorite, speaking volumes for an establishment in an area saturated with gimmicky tourist draws. Walked in to a warm welcome with a humorous greeting from the hostess. A sweet and sassy older woman, with the hair-doo to match, flirtatiously addressed me as, "a tall drink of water", lol. Her charm was only complimented by the high quality of the service and seafood here. My party of four started with a round of several delicious appetizers and a nice bottle of red wine suggested to us by our waitress. The calimari app was phenomenal, as were the mussels- while the jerk chicken wings were less than stellar & slightly bland, they more or less just served as notice that Just Hooked is a SEAFOOD establishment. My suggestion is you let the star of this show shine. Our entrees varied across the board. All of us ordered different seafood dishes and we were equally delighted with the freshness, and overall deliciousness of the meal. I had the Pig N' Oysters (fried oysters and braised pork on slaw). No hesitation saying the oysters were among the best i've had anywhere! Great place, guaranteed stop every time i'm in Delmarva.

This star rating is based on the salad drenched in dressing, greasy scallops and the hostess who acts like a sorority sister assessing pledges. You can't judge people. This is coming from someone who's family has been in the restaurant business for years. Karma's a b!tch.

I read the other reviews and I guess they where their for dinner. I was there for lunch and the menu was very short. I was hoping for some good seafood but the only Items on the menu was fish and chips and scallops. The other two choices was Hamburg and a crab cake. Too me you can get fish and chips anywhere. A crab cake sandwich is seafood I guess but in most cases at the beach it's more filling then crab. Scallops just don't cut it. So what is left is the Hamburg big deal. I went with the fish and chips. Whole lot of fries and 3 pieces of fish. The fish looked like eggs rolls and had very little flavor.,, The tarter sauce was nothing like I ever tasted. I was thinking tarter sauce was relish and Mayo. This tasted like vinegar and something else sour. Ok maybe the dinner menu is better. The place was clean and well appointed. The service was good but not exceptional never got a refill on my drink till I was done eating and ready too leave. Restroom was clean highly sensed. A few paper towels on the floor. I guess they have been there for a while because there was only 4 other people in the restaurant and they didn't use the restroom.

Like Off the Hook, this is fresh, local and well priced for the quality of food on offer. I'm not a southerner, but the shrimp and grits was the best I've had.

Yum! Just Hooked is one of my standbys at the beach. Lots of good dishes have come from the kitchen, and their specials are fantastic. I love their fish tacos, a few soups I have had, and more than any other dessert - anywhere - the chocolate terrine! The specials - notably tacos and burger night - feature great deals, if not the best quality food. The burger is previously frozen and the tacos are not as good as those on the regular menu. But, for $5 and $2, respectively, they are pretty good! The service is always nice & helpful to me - even if my parents didn't have the same experience. So, I am a fan of this place. This review is not glowing, but takes a lot to impress me. I do return to Hooked. That says a lot.

Monday! Monday! Monday! It's all about the $2 taco Monday. The shrimp taco is amazing. Great beer selection and awesome service. A must try if you are in the area.

In a beach town, you often have to wade through a lot of touristy places before you hit something special. A friend of mine had already been here and said it was the best in OC. I don't usually take advice from someone who thinks Man of Steel is the best superhero movie, but I made an exception. We showed up on Sunday for a late lunch and sat at the double-sided bar. The bartender was fantastic. He was very friendly, funny, and attentive. They had a 12-6 happy hour. $4 orange crushes, $1 off beers and wines, $3 fish tacos, and $5 jerk chicken wings. Ended up getting all that plus calamari. The calamari was the highlight. It was very crispy and well seasoned. I also tried the Chicken Chesapeake which has big lumps of blue crab on it. This was great, but everything on the menu looks good. There's seafood on lot of the dishes here, so consider other options if you don't like it. If you get the Chicken Chesapeake without crab, what's the point? Getting in here for dinner is harder and more expensive. Expect a wait during peak hours in summer. I'd consider the wait worth it. You're probably on vacation, and this place rocks.

We eat here often! It's a go to place for delicious food. Service is always good. The calamari appetizer is delicious as is the entree of Tuna. The salmon is also superb! For dessert the Key Lime pie is fab too! All around for this area Hooked is a wonderful place to eat.

I went back to this restaurant after two years, and it is still the same great place. We discovered during our previous vacation in Ocean City, and were excited about eating there again. Prices are a bit more than what is displayed on this Yelp restaurant page, especially if you drink wine, which are a bit on the expensive side here. The freshness of all fish and shellfish is amazing, and the dishes inventive and extremely fresh.

I've gone to Just Hooked several times throughout the years and love the Bethany location. The last few times (including tonight) I had a terrible experience and will never go back. I was there in April on a Sunday evening (three course menu) and the restaurant was basically empty. The service was exceptionally slow and two of my courses were wrong. Tonight, we went in with a party of 10. They refused to seat our party- but seated numerous people ahead of us and then wouldn't allow our party to sit together. Getting water was a struggle. Our table received our entrees before the other table even received their apps. The service was terrible. I understand it's MDW but there were empty tables. We could have sat together. Afterwards the manager did not apologize and was confrontational. Having worked in a restaurant in this area, that's extremely poor customer service (really anywhere- but understanding this area well). I will never be returning to the restaurant and neither will any of my family members. Good customer service involves communication. There was none. It's a shame because the food is pretty good. I wanted to email the restaurant instead of writing this review but it seems if even the manager feels nothing was wrong in their service this evening....well, that's a big problem. I would advise you to go elsewhere if you desire a good dining experience.

Awesome! I am lucky to have had someone familiar with the area direct me here. The seared scallops in the corn salsa with grits were to die for. I also tried the crab dip which was good but the homemade kettle chips over powered the dip taste. Definitely wish it came with pita points instead. Others had the tuna (enjoyed), the surf and turf ( enjoyed) and the spicy pasta (forgot name) with calamari, mussels, scallops, etc. She said the dish was good but would not order again. She loves spicy but this was a bit much and couldn't finish. Key lime pie - Delicious! I would definitely go again and will forever crave the seared scallops dish :) Note--- they do not split checks so probably not good for a group.

We had dinner here last night (12/1/12) and had an excellent meal. The staff is friendly and welcoming and we were greeted warmly. Although the restaurant was crowded we were seated quickly. Our server, Sara P. was knowledgeable of the menu items, specials and of the reasonably price and extensive wine list. I had the lobster truffle carbonara pasta, my wife had the grilled shrimp. The carbonara had all its flavors blended well and the lobster was plentiful. The shrimp dish was also excellent. The desserts (bread pudding with a bacon butter maple sauce, and a hazel chocolate bar with ice cream) topped off a special evening. Great place for couple or groups (there were several there). Update. This place just gets better and better. The new items on the menu are delicious. We ate at the chef's counter and watched the food being prepared. What a treat. We met the executive chef, Matt. Nice guy. We continue to give it 5 stars. One of our favorite places on Fenwick Island This restaurant continues to impress. Had the scallops on a bed of Grits. The grits are as good (maybe better) than The Dixie Cafe in Charleston SC.

We've gone to Just Hooked since they opened and last night was our first mediocre experience. The meal started good. We ordered the calamari and dip and both were fine. The entrees were where they fell flat. My wife ordered the crab cake. Aside from the fact that it used to be crab CAKES she expected the same good food we have enjoyed in the past. The food was tasteless. More that that it clearly was not of high quality. The server replaced her order with scallops. Unfortunately, they were also blah. My son had tuna, which was ok. I had salmon and it was ok as well. Overall, the meal was a disappointment. When the check came a comment card was included. My wife filled it out in great detail the card asked for an email address, which she provided. It has now been several weeks and has she heard from management? No. Steve, you are slipping badly

I'm sorry but I was not impressed at all. From the moment I sat down I knew I shouldn't eat here. The menu was limited and all of the items were very expensive. My husband got the fish and chips and something must have been wrong because the fish was TERRIBLE. I regret not mentioning it to the waitress (she was very nice btw). My sister had the Scallops and grits and really enjoyed it. My mom had a salad and it wasn't very good. With all of the restaurants in the area you are better off somewhere else.

We eat here a lot. What can be better than fresh well prepared seafood? My wife always gets meat but sometimes will get the friend oysters which are insanely tasty. The menu changes with availability of local foods. Their Caesar Salad is real and if you ask you can get anchovies, which I love. So many places fake Caesar Salads but not here. I even love the home made bread and herbed olive oil.

Came here as a default since it was the only place that looked halfway descent that was open. GREAT CALL! The "Hooked Up Crab Dip" appetizer was enough by itself to make this place a place to venture to EVERY time I'm in the area. I wasn't in the mood for too much fish but I'm sure it's fantastic. I had the burger which was cooked to perfection and the flavors were splendid. My buddy had the Chesapeake Chicken and Crab sandwich, of which I stole a bit, and it too was a mouthful of deliciousness. The wait staff were friendly and hospitable. Definitely making it back here next time around.

Great place. The food is wonderful, always fresh and perfectly prepared. The service is always good. My only issue is I'm not crazy about the bread. It isn't bad, it's just not great, like everything else I've eaten there. I'm a sucker for warm, yeasty rolls.

Been a year since my first time at just hooked. This time was about the same with one exception. The watermelon salad was not good. The calamari was great and was gone as the melon salad lingered around for the apps. Dinners were seared tuna, scallops, pig n oysters, and fruit de mer.

We had a great dinner at Just Hooked! The staff was very nice, helpful and knowledgeable and the food was fantastic! The calamari was the best I've ever had. The fish tacos were also great. The seared scallops with bacon, corn and grits were excellent. This is the kind of food that you don't want to eat one item at a time. You want to get some of each ingredient together on your fork at the same time so you can appreciate the blend of flavors. Great experience!

I had dinner here with 5 other friends about a month ago on a Saturday night. Overall it was a very nice experience. The best part of my meal, by far, was the cream of cauliflower soup - outstanding! The bread for the whole table (which we had to keep asking for) was, in retrospect, only ok. A place like this should be able to do much better bread-wise. It was served stone-cold and kind of had a cornbread-like consistency. They also were skimpy with the dipping olive oil. Hey, JH, bring a bottle of oil to the table, ok? I also had the caesar salad and truffle mac & cheese, both of which were acceptable but nothing all that great. The salad had a really unappetizing looking whole anchovy on the top. The mac & cheese could definitely have been served warmer. I had an excellent glass of red wine....but for the $13 price it should have been good. Other than having to keep asking for bread, the service was quite good...a nice and friendly young woman was our server. She was attentive without being obtrusive.

If I could give this place ten stars, I would. Go here -- you will not be disappointed. My husband, son and I stopped here on a whim. What a lucky find. Great ambience and delicious, fresh and local food, which makes any wait time worth it. I had an outstanding glass of sangria and soft shell crabs. My husband had calamari (perfectly prepared), scallops with roasted corn and grits (impressive) and key lime pie (one of the best slices he's ever had). I wish I could have tried every dish on the menu. We dined out every night on our six day trip and rated this our favorite restaurant. We'll definitely return.

Always happy to find more good beach eats in the Delaware island and Just Hooked delivers. Noted as a "farm/seafood to table" restaurant, shouldn't that be boat? as much as the concept is overplayed the restaurant still manages to deliver. Ambience is pretty basic with lots of painted sea scene artwork. Bathrooms face a large open kitchen, there's no halls, so you have a tendency to slam into the servers. Great cocktail menu, the Smokey Matter is a real winner. An upscale take on a blood mary, but made with mezcal instead of vodka of course. Dusted with what appears to be old bay, this savory drink gets the juices flowing, this is a real winner, with mezcals smokey properties and tomato hierloom savoryness. Great craft local beer selection with Dogfish, Evo, 16 Mile and some regular offerings to boot. Menu appears well thought out and planned. Good solid seafood appetizers to start. The PEI mussels with heaps of mustard seeds and apple cider come out really unique and with a nice juicy drinkable sweetness. They are also plentiful. one minor peeve, they don't serve this with any bread for you to soak up the juices. Bread is a must when serving mussels I say. Main menu items of scallops are browned golden to perfection. Lobster carbonara comes with some big heaping large claws, succulent and into a creamy decadent version of mac n cheese. The grouper item while good could be just a hint better. Broth is a little weak and watery, and doesn't add much to the dish. Served with cauliflower, this could use a cauliflower flavored puree on the bottom for the grouper to sit on, instead your served what looks like a bowl of miso with a giant hunk of fish stuck on it. The added prosciutto is a waste, an overcooked hunk of taco chip cardboard that sits on top and dried out like bad jerky. It adds nothing to the meal and needs to be used or not even bothered. The fish was cooked correctly, but this dish could be much better. Solid dessert offerings and very attentive service. Staff answer every question knowledgeably. and without hesitation, or... I dunno let me go check. Items are nicely plated and presented also. This also appears to be a sister restaurant of the similar name in a different location on the shore in Bethany (their first location is Off the Hook). Menus in both places are very similar. Always great to have another good seafood dining option in the area, I will definitely consider a return when visiting for either establishment.

Having returned to Just Hooked at least once a year since my initial review I think it's safe to say -- it's would be hard to have a bad meal here. Though we normally stick with just the calamari appetizer (always on point), I've sampled the chicken wings, tuna skewers, and a few others. No complaints -- some appetizers are smaller than others, but all are delicious. I've had everything from cioppino to swordfish to scallops to tilefish from the entree selections and have never been disappointed. Portion sizes never seem too small for price, which can add up quickly. The focaccia with oil is a nice treat for the table as well. Haven't sampled dessert -- always too full at the end of my meal!

Loved the appetizers! Ordered a few different ones to share with out table of four. My favorite were the fried mussels. For my main entree I chose to go with the fried green tomato salad. They give the option to add a protein cooked 3 different ways. I added pan seared scallops. It was delicious!! A perfect lighter entree after completely indulging on the apps! I also ordered a watermelon margarita, another winner!! Service was excellent.

I try to eat at farm to table restaurants whenever possible, so when I happened to see this place while on vacation, I thought I would try it. Everything was superb! The food was incredibly fresh and extremely flavorful. The soft shell crabs were cooked to perfection with just the right amount of breading- thinly coated to let the crab taste come through. It was served over a fresh corn chimmichouri. My table mate said the filet in the surf and turf was perfectly cooked. My other table mate ordered salmon with a rhubarb purée. He said it was a wonderful complement to the fresh salmon. I highly recommend this restaurant, but get there early because it fills up quickly.

Second Helping! Back for lunch over the 4th weekend. The food seems to have gotten even better! We loved the crab dip and the drinks especially the hard lemonade was amazing. I guided the lilly with my fries by adding the bacon, Gruyere truffle mornay sauce. One of those dishes that make your eyes roll back in your head! Tacos and the shrimp roll were rockn' service was friendly but quite leisurely. Not sure how that translates at dinner.

Crowded bar on a Saturday night but we had drinks and dinner at the bar. The strip with tomatoes, leeks, arugula was awesome - gluten and dairy free. Scallops with bacon and cheesy grits was the other dish- solid. It's refreshing to see fine food dining at the beach with a casual atmosphere. Highly recommended.

The fish and chips were not good. They used a flakey fish rather than a firm fish which made for a mushy fish. They also used a plain coating rather than Panko which would have given the fish a needed crunch. The sides were either so-so or good. The best thing about the dinner were the cucumber martini and green apple martinis! The bar is to be complemented, not the kitchen.

Enjoyable meal. The waitstaff was accommodating and there wasn't a very long wait which was nice. We've been here the past 3 years while on vacation and usually have no trouble with the menu items. This time however it seemed that there were fewer fresh fish options which is what we tend to gravitate towards while on vacation. Tuna poke app was pretty delicious, Caesar salad wasn't anything too impressive. The fried oysters were a little bland and needed some salt. Scallops were a solid dish. The grilled mahi mahi with tomato gazpacho was fine. Overall pretty decent but I remember better dinners in the past which is probably why I have 4 stars and not 3 this time.

We had a very enjoyable meal at Just Hooked. The Hooked Orange Crushes were strong and the food was delicious! The Pan Seared Chicken is by far, the best chicken dish! The orzo mac & cheese is very creamy and the added mushrooms make if even better! We also enjoyed a piece of the chocolate chip cheesecake. Very good & rich, but nothing to write home about. Looking forward to going back soon!

We were told a 45 minute to 1 hour wait. An hour and a half later here we sit outside while parties with several more people came after us and were seated before us. The food looks great unfortunately without being seated it's hard to say how it tastes. Definitely a let down from a service aspect. More to follow...

Wanted to love it, but only liked it. Would give 3.5 stars if I could. Went on a Thursday night at 8pm when the restaurant was slammed and they generally get great reviews so your experience may be different. Had the clam appetizer. The clams were good but the bread that came with them had a strange consistency and was not good. Also had the tuna wrap appetizer. It was ok but nothing special. My wife had the bisque and said it was very good, but also very rich and filling. Kids had the pasta from the kid menu. The pasta was over cooked and tasteless. However we told them and the pasta was comped which is a very good sign for the service. I would definitely go back. We loved Hooked in Ocean City. Just don't go during the rush.

Wonderful dinner tonight. My husband had the watermelon salad and scallops with cheese grits. I had the soft crab with the baby roasted potatoes. Both where 5 star. We also shared a totally yummy homemade key lime pie. Loved it. So why the 4 star rating? The orange crushes were absolutely horrible. Someone needs to take a little road trip over to Teezers and get their recipe.

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious dinner while sitting at the open kitchen counter. We scored with a pricing special of $25 for app or salad, meal and desert (typically it would be around $50). Honestly, my husband's food was better. He had the fried green tomato salad and it was amazing! He also went with the scallops that sat on top of a be of barely with artichokes-amazing! I order the muscles, which were fabulous (huge cloves of garlic!!!) and the tuna dinner. I ordered my tuna medium and I was disappointed. The seasoning was plain breadcrumbs at best and I wish I asked for rare bc it was over cooked. I watched all the other pieces leave the kitchen and they looked perfect, leaving me to assume I just had a bad order. If I had to order again I would get the Fruit-de-Mar- that looks like the best dish on the menu! Overall it was a great meal. Our server Sarah was super sweet and helpful. The vibe there a causal but you could dress up too. A guy, who I assume was the owner, walked around in golf gear asking if the food was good (I didnt complain about my tuna). I'll definitely go back!!!

My husband and I went there for dinner tonight. It was amazing!!! We both had the scallops and grits... Trust me best dinner I had in a long time.Had a couple drinks at the bar and the bartender (Charlie) made me and my husband great drinks..We did thank (Debbie) the restaurant manager for what a awesome place this is. There is a little waitress there by the name of (Sarah) very attentive and good at her job, very lucky to have her..So you might want to give a try while your down the beach..

I must admit I don't give five stars very often and if I could give a 10 I would. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The fish was fresh and cooked to perfection and the combination of flavors outstanding. A must try is the scallop mac & cheese. I'm hooked!

4 for dinner ... 2 first-timers & 2 returners. Service fast, efficient, friendly & knowledgeable. Four excellent entries (2 surf & turf, 1 scallops & 1 fish special ... well seasoned and prepared as ordered) followed by an excellent piece of key lime pie and a wonderful chocolate confection. Nice wine (and the night we went was 1/2 price wine night) and you have one excellent dinner. Highly recommended.

This review is somewhat of a compromise between me and the husband. He rates this place 5 stars... I was not quite as impressed. I will concede that his meal was much better than mine. We went last night and they run a really good special on Friday nights (I'm assuming its an off-season only type thing); 3 courses for $25. The portions are a little smaller with the special but definitely substantial, no complaints there. His 3 courses: duck steam buns (awesome), smoky tuna (very good), and French toast bread pudding (nothing bad about that combo). Mine: crispy calamari (great spicy mayo sauce), cioppino (ridiculous amount of seafood, but the broth kinda ruined it), and the chocolate terrine with coffee ice cream (tastyyyyy). Overall, good food, great service and a pretty nice atmosphere- we sat on the bar side. I'd definitely go back on a Friday night and try some other menu items.

The staff and management sucks.. They can't help someone at the front desk when there's 1 table in the whole place! I wouldn't even give it a rye just because of the terrible staff

Great food. Excellent service. Food was fantastic my opinion the best seafood restaurant on coastal highway. If you don't want to go to an all you can eat where everything taste the same then pick Just hooked. Your taste buds will thank you for it.

When sister restaurant Off the Hook had a long wait for our group of 8, we headed to the larger Just Hooked. We still had to wait a good half hour, even on a spring Saturday night, but with a large bar area, it worked out fine. Staff is well trained, food was excellent. Lively and loud, and that was fine as we were loud too.

Very nice. Decor is warm and inviting. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Menu has great selection of delicious appetizers, salads and meals. We got the calamari which was delish as many reviews mentioned. We also got a good to crab dip which wound have been much better if it were hot. I ordered the smokey tuna and again would have been much better if it had been warmer. I will definitely try again but just ask them to make sure our food is hot.

I love this place...last time visit was two summers ago and the food is still great! So great that I will definitely go one more time before we leave this week. We had a tuna app that was coming off the menu the next day- served rare/raw almost like a ceviche with a orange flavor and chinese noodles- really really good. We also had the battered oysters- a house dish and one of the reasons we came back...and the reason we'll be back later this week! The shrimp & grits is an entree item that was also coming off the menu the next day- very good but heavy (a winter dish). The tuna entree- so awesome..served rare/seared with a quinoa with nuts & grapes- get this you won't be disappointed. What else can I say, just go. Love that there is a seafood restaurant at the beach that doesn't feel like a tourist trap. Almost forgot dessert...flour less chocolate cake with coffee ice cream...oh so good, the chocolate was like fudge.

Definitely one of the best dining options if you're staying on Fenwick Island. I thought our flatbread was very good, and the short rib entree was excellent. This is billed as a farm to table establishment and I feel it lives up to that description. The seared scallops with fregola sarda were the highlight of the meal and the service was quick and efficient, though not mind blowing. I'd definitely go back.

Excellent food, served in nice portions that leaves you full but not stuffed. The calamari was terrific and I'm not even a calamari fan. The Crab Cakes by themselves are good but not great. But with the asparagus, sweet corn n' pea tendril salad, and classic remoulade, it was an excellent meal. Great atmosphere and overall high quality dining.

A must go! Don't miss this place. They don't take reservations, and even in the winter on the weekends it is slammed. We had a party of 6 and everyone cleaned their plates. The appetizers were incredible, especially the Calimari and Battered Oysters, wow. One member of our party actually got the Battered Oysters as her dinner she liked the app so much. I don't give 5 stars much, but this place deserves all 5. The owner, Steve, visited our table, and we observed him reviewing every dinner prior to it leaving for the tables. He cares! Great attention to detail throughout the restaurant to include the art on the walls. Just Go! You'll be happy, if you can get it! ....oh yeah, it is in a stripmall, and has no view or fancy storefront, but who needs that when the food is this good!

We were super excited to try this restaurant. I love the concept and it's something I believe in. Interior is nice and bigger than you would think. We started with the crab corn chowder. We were torn on what to order as the whole menu sounded great. I decided on the fruit de mer as it had homemade pasta and a variety of seafood. My husband got the pan roasted chicken. The crab chowder came out first and it was the best I've ever had. Simply amazing. The bread they give you is also extrememly fresh and delicious. We were so excited for our meals. They arrived quickly and looked delicious. After two bites of my pasta I started to taste something not appetizing at all. I then attempted to eat a mussel and gagged. I had my husband try and he had the same reaction. They were spoiled. I smelled the plate it the small was extrememly strong and bad. I notified our waitress and said that I wasn't sure if it was just me or something was seriously wrong. She indiciated this was not the first time they have had this problem and that it was probabaly the mussels. To me, this could have been avoided. If you know there is a problem then you need to address it. Even if that means you simply smell the batch of mussels to see. Trust me, you could tell by just smelling it. She took away my plate promptly and then returned to let me know they were going to make my dish again without mussels. That is great, however, by then my stomatch had turned to the whole dish. But what was I going to do, say I wanted something else after they already started making it? No. They should have asked if I wanted something different. By now my husband had finished his meal and I hadn't even started. This was okay, because I truely wasn't even that hungry anymore. My dish came out sans mussels. The flavor was a pretty bland. It is NOT a spicy dish at all. The pasta was extremely fresh as was the tomato sauce. You could really tell it was homemade. Unfortaunetly, I ended taking 80% of it to go as I lost my appetite. Reheaded pasta with seafood is not that great. My husband said his chicken was delicious. The bite I had was very good as well. Overall, I think this could have been one of the most amazing meals we've ever had, but for a few reasons that I think could have been avoided or delt with differently, it was not. I was very disappointed. Truthfully, if they had taken it off my bill or at least offered me something else in it's place, I probabaly wouldn't be writing this review (or the stars would be higher) and/or I would try this place again. We will see, I still support the concept of local food, so I may give it another shot but I was severely disappointed.

My husband and I LOVE this place!! The servers are friendly and knowledgable, the owner is super sweet and aims to please, and the bartenders are fantastic! Beyond the exceptional service is equally amazing food. I could live on the shrimp or fish tacos, which are well priced on the Happy Hour menu. We've also had the scallops and seared tuna, both were awesome. Although we like to try new places, we have been to Just Hooked 3 of our last 5 meals out, A++!

Once we got past the troll of a hostess the experience was markedly better, even though she made her way to the table to suggest we leave because we had kids with us(both very well behaved) that she didn't want sitting at a high top. Asparagus salad was fantastic as was swordfish and rockfish specials. Service was slow but understandably so as Brian was totally slammed. Didn't have dessert as the kids were getting antsy but what we saw coming to other tables looked great. Will Find out Linda's day off(the hostess) and be back then.

Food: For appetizers, we had an Arugula salad and a calamari dish. all of the ingredients in the salad were very fresh. The balance of ingredients was not ideal but the ingredient quality made up for it. The calamari was perfectly cooked. It wasn't greasy or rubbery, and the sauce was spicy without dominating the calamari. We had a scallop dish with chorizo, grits and corn. Execution of this dish was flawless. The scallops were very large with a nice crispness on the outside and tender inside. We also had the Cioppino. This is a difficult dish to execute. All of the seafood in the stew were fresh and cooked perfectly. I am accustomed to the broth having a spicier flavor but I was glad that the broth had a milder flavor so that the seafood could shine. The portions were quite large so a couple could easily split an appetizer. Prices are also very reasonable given the quality of the food. I have been to OCMD three times and this is easily the best food. There were a few areas that could improve. Most are related to service. We were asked so many times whether something could be cleared from the table that we got the impression that they were trying to turnover tables as quickly as possible. In fact, we received our entrees before we were done with our appetizers. The tables are covered in paper and water is served in cheap plastic cups which doesn't seem to match the sophistication of the menu. The wine and beer menu is also limited though I was happy to see such a low markup on the wine. There were a couple of other issues like that, but none of them were detractors. If I come back to ocmd, I will definitely go back to this place.

In an small little strip mall that has indoor and outdoor seating. Arrived later in the evening(8:30) and it was still packed! Great mix drinks, and wines by the glass. I ordered the crab cakes which were accompanied by a refreshing apple slaw and crispy deep fried green beans--fantastic - exceeded expectations. Dessert was good too--had a chocolate truffle bar with sea salt and hazelnut ice cream. yum! only down side--if you are outside and on the wrong side of the wind, there's a whiff of trash--will return, but for the indoor seating :)

Food was absolutely delicious! Service was great too! I got the catch of the day-- it melted in my mouth. My mother said she didn't think she had a better meal. She ordered the scallops. There were good gluten free options as well.

Tonight was our first trip to Just Hooked and I already can't wait to go back. The service was quick and friendly. The food was amazing. We started with the buttermilk battered calamari. The calamari was hot and melted in your mouth--cooked to perfection. My husband had the seared scallops which were recommended by our waitress. The scallops were sweet and buttery and served with amazing grits. I had the cioppino with loads of shrimp, scallops, mussels, fin fish, choriso, and clams. The crostini that came with the cioppino was perfect for soaking up the delicious broth. My two young sons had the steamed clams and fish and chips. All of the dishes were delicious. As my youngest son said, "this may be one of the best restaurants in the whole United States." He tends to exaggerate, but loved the restaurant nonetheless.

Our first time at Just Hooked, although we've had dinner at Off the Hook in Bethany Beach twice in the past couple of years. Just Hooked is more spacious and we appreciated the atmosphere a bit better. The fried calamari appetizer was delicious, served immediately out of the fryer, lightly battered and perfectly cooked. The main courses were also beautifully cooked - I had the seared scallops over grilled corn, roasted poblano and braised bacon grits. If we go back this week, I'd order the same thing! Probably the best thing about the evening was the service. Our server Maria was friendly, attentive and offered suggestions that were right on point. The hostess/manager came to our table to see how everything was, and later in the evening one of the owners stopped by and also asked. He seemed genuinely interested in our comments and was great to talk with. Without a doubt one of our new favorite restaurants in the area!

Food was generally quite good. The crab bisque appetizer was excellent, the tomato salad and asparagus appetizers, not so much. All of the entrees at out table were superb. The chiapinna (sic) entree was wonderful and the salmon was excellent. Inside seating is probably best. The wait staff is mediocre but the food shows promise. Wines were above par for the beach. I will come back and hope they continue to improve.

Visited Just Hooked on a Thursday night (8/15) and the place was really busy. The greeters/ hostesses were really nice. At first we were going to sit at a table (30 minute wait) but then we saw some seating at the bar and bellied up. Absolutely love the open kitchen. Hearing and seeing the guys back there burning was really cool. The two female bartenders were running their butts off back there but still had time to smile and give recommendations when we were ordering. Everything we had was great and we especially loved the smoked oyster shooters. My only critique is that when the place was really jammin it seemed that the bartenders needed some assistance. It could be help with pumping glasses or just helping with the service bar. Being a bartender myself I know a little help can go a long way. I'm hoping to visit Hooked the next time I'm at the beach. Or maybe I'll be 'Just Hooked' again. Keep 'em biting y'all. You're doing a great job!

We are officially hooked and have swallowed the worm!!! To find good food in the ocean city area is about as rare as me catching a fish. This only happens once in a while and usually after many failed attempts. We found the atmosphere great, nice bar and the perfect sound level. (Can't hear the table next to you). The server was great and had wonderful suggestions. The hostess, an older woman is a little grumbly and short but after a short wait she means no harm and is quite nice. Now the food, the mussels were in a sauce I could only describe as Devine. For someone who hates grits, I loved the scallops over corn and grits with a bit of bacon. My husband had the Mahi served just right and tasted wonderful. I don't think you could go wrong with anything and the portions left us full and satisfied. If only the rest of ocean city could figure out how to cook food!!

Being locals we look for and expect great food and thats just what we got here. The food is not only great but also a work of art. The calamari was the best we've had anywhere on the beach. We also love being able to watch the chef prepare the food from the bar area. The service at the bar was friendly and not overly invasive.Locals are more understanding and forgiving about levels of expectation regarding service. We dont want the fake chit chat and fake smiles that tourists want/expect. We live and work in a resort area, we have to fake it all summer long, so we understand how mentally depleting summer is for the staff. I wish there was a site to rate customers! ha ha ha That would even up things. Half the stuff we see tourists do and say they would never do at home!! So Hats off to all you hard working staff workers in every customer service job, especially in a resort area!!! Thank you!! Just Hooked has a good thing going and we will support them!

I've finally found a decent place for seafood in the Ocean City / Fenwick area. One would think good seafood must be easy to find so close to the ocean, not so! The salmon and mahi mahi were great. The calamari was cooked perfectly. Even the caesar salad was great. The décor is trendy with great pictures of the local waterfront/beaches. Don't let the ugly strip mall fool you into thinking it's just another resort town dive with greasy deep fried foods. Hopefully we'll see more fish options offered in the future because I'll definitely be back. Just Hooked was a pleasant surprise!

Really wanted to like this place. Nothing was BAD, but nothing was GOOD. We make better crabcakes at home when we go buy our own Jumbo Lump. When we are at the beach we expect LITTLE TO NO filler in the crabcakes - and a generous portion of Jumbo Lump (especially when they are charging close to what a fine dining establishment would charge). The service was great, the selections on the menu were interesting. The food did taste fresh and the restaurant was clean. For close to $200 for a dinner for two (with each person only having one drink) - I felt that this was a bit overpriced for what it was. The food was fine, the restaurant was fine - but the reviews do this restaurant a huge disservice. Based on the reviews - my boyfriend and I both expected to have wonderful meals and a great overall dining experience. We both left thinking that the Yelp reviews were misleading. Perhaps our expectations are high - but they should be for a dining experience at that price point.

I'd get the fish and chips at lunch. You get a big portion with the fries. The fish was nice and fresh. My wife got the fish tacos. Definitely not worth the tacos. The service was mediocre. Seemed like they didn't really want you to be there. The dinner menu is pricey.

Add this one to your Must-dine list. The food is excellent! The calamari was a perfect start to the meal -- the bread & olive oil was pretty tasty, too. The menu has mouth-watering descriptions that make it nearly impossible to choose just one. Don't worry. Close your eyes and point. You can't lose. My roasted salmon with cherries & spinach with a root veg puree was perfect as was my wife's chicken dish. (Sorry. Didn't get all that was in the chicken dish.) From the seafood to the desserts, all ingredients are local, which means fresh. I hear there's just one little hitch -- a waiting line during tourist season. We vacation in the off season. No wait. So hit the beach in the off-season and enjoy fine dining atoderatr prices. Great value for dollar because there is usually some sort of discount..they're very inventive. Great food. Great service. Modest prices. Go. Enjoy.

Really nice evening spent at "Just Hooked." The 30 minute wait for our large table was comfortably spent at the bar with the youngest two entranced by the cooks hard at work in the open kitchen. First round included well executed fried calamari, a creative romaine salad, a nice take on crab and corn bisque, and fresh Blue Point oysters on the half shell. Main courses were uniformly good and included a non-traditional but tasty cioppino, seared tuna cooked exactly as ordered (as rare as can be), outstanding sea scallops on greens and squash puree, mahi mahi, and a novel but great take on shrimp and grits (shrimp grilled and grits cheesy). Can't wait for a return visit.

What a fantastic addition to the beach! Love, love this place. Fun bar scene and delicious dinner options. I've eaten at the bar, as well as in the dining room and have not been disappointed with anything I've ordered. Only bummer is that they are so popular!

Went there for dinner last night, they advertised a $25 3 course dinner starting the first Friday of October. Guess what, they told us it doesn't apply due to Columbus Day weekend, false advertisement. While the food was decent but will not return due to principle of dishonesty. Other diners walked out when they found out about the bait & switch.

Party of 4, we walked in on a Monday night and were seated immediately. Service was really good, food was fantastic. We were still talking about it later in the week. We're here in Fenwick Island for our traditional family vacation. We've been doing this for the last 45 years. And we've tried just about every restaurant within miles. Started going to Just Hooked shortly after it opened. Tonight was probably the best ever. I had the cioppino, with shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels, fin fish, chorizo, caramelized fennel, white wine tomato broth, pesto, and crostini. I learned to love cioppino years ago in San Francisco. Their cioppino has more of a tomato based broth. But the Just Hooked pesto broth is better. It brings out the flavor of the seafood instead of masking it. Wonderful. I paired that with a Sauvignon Blanc from California's Alexander Valley and I was in heaven.

Every dish here is great. This is one of the best places to get seafood around Bethany. Their original location just up the coast is just as good, but can't seat as many people and doesn't have an outdoor patio. Highly recommended :)

Ah, resort town dining. Hit or miss, frequently a miss. Somewhat easy to miss, it looks like just another dive in a strip mall. It's not. This place is new on the scene, open less than a year, but has already built a successful clientele. The locals outnumbered the tourists, and it showed as the staff greeted people by name. We had dinner there over Sunfest weekend, and while it was busy, we snagged seats at the bar (instead of a 45+ min wait) and were rewarded for doing so. The bartenders on that night, Jayme and Jessica, were excellent. Serving as servers, bartenders, and fonts of information about the area, the food, and the people. I had the Salmon as entree, wife had the clams, and both were very good. We both liked that the dishes were heavy on the sauce, which was TOTALLY NOMALICIOUS when combined with the still-hot focacia bread. I'm not a big drinker, but I had one of the seasonal beers, a shot of Jeremiah Weed (compliments of Jayme), and a marTEAni, slighly over-chilled, but still quite yummy. I thought it was excellent food value for the money, and the people watching was pretty decent too. This place knows its audience. Lots of duffers in attendance. Bonus: this place is open all year, so we'll be going back during the offseason to see if its still as good.

We came on a Monday night and got seated right away. They do NOT take reservations so Yelp needs to update the basic info. Service was nice and friendly. I had the crab cakes which comes with a tempura style green beans aside and a salad on the plate. A very hearty meal. Crab cakes were excellent. My dining companions had soft shell crabs and the cioppino with lots of good shell fish. I had the key lime pie for dessert. A real winner! We'll be back again for sure.

We waited 45 minutes for a table with my 8 year old son, mom and sister at the end of a week's vacation, and it was worth the wait. First, my son has celiac disease, and every single one of their kids' meals had gluten, so they were nice enough to prepare him a small portion of salmon and roasted fingerling potatoes, which he wolfed down. The rest of us shared some flaky, soft, NOT chewy calimari, which is how the place got recommended in the first place. i took off most of the breading and ate it plain, it was that good. My sister had the summer burger with a side of really delicious, unique pesto fries, which my son dubbed "pesticide fries"! Really, they weren't, they were delicious. My sister was kind enough to share, they were crispy and soft (my favorite kind of fries), and flavorful. My mom's salmon was buttery soft and fresh, some of the nicest salmon I've tasted. And my entree: scallops atop a plate of grits with bits of applewood smoked you know what. I knew it would be good, but didn't realize it would be so filling and satisfying. Not too many favors, either, just the right balance. Even dessert was good: real key lime pie, oatmeal coconut pie that was almost too rich, and good vanilla ice cream for my son. They were out of fresh fruit sorbet, all the other desserts had gluten. Other than the waitress forgetting my mom's decaf which caused her to pout, it was a great meal. We ate outside on their deck with only 5 other tables, so it was quiet, compared to the crowded noisy inside dining room. Parking is a major challenge, so be prepared to drop off your group and circle for a space. I want to go back for lunch to try the fried oyster sandwich.

I found Just Hooked from Yelp reviews. Located just north of OC/Rt 54, it shares a tight parking lot with a pottery store and a couple of other tourist businesses in a small strip mall. Inside is no roomier. Tables are arranged closely in a semi-circle around the central bar, with the open kitchen on one side. We were there at 6:30pm on a Saturday. It was packed and very loud. This isn't necessarily a complaint, just be aware that it isn't an intimate atmosphere. I had the crab cakes which were large & tasty though almost all backfin. Minus one star for misleading menu description. They came with fried green beans and a nice little apple/cabbage slaw. He had crab bisque followed by blackened mahi mahi and gave both high marks. Portions were ample which helped justify the prices. Service was cheerful and efficient. 3.5 stars. Definitely worth a return visit.

This is one of my favorite places to eat at the beach. It's certainly the best in Fenwick. I love the fact that chef Matt knows all his food purveyors personally, and focuses on local food done perfectly. I've tried all the apps and they are flawless. He does a great job with seafood, but I've had the best pork from him as well. Shrimp and cheesy grits are amazing, as is the cioppino. Save room for dessert, they have a dense chocolate pate-like cake w/sea salt that is to die for. I love to sit at the bar right in front of the open kitchen. Call ahead to make sure Chef Matt is cooking.

An unexpected gem. My fiancé and I visited on a Saturday night and enjoyed a glass of wine from their extensive wine selection while we waited a short 15 minutes for a table. We were treated to the most romantic table on their outdoor patio, where we enjoyed braised pork cheek and seared scallops with corn grits. By in large, the best meal we ever had. It was a perfect evening. If we come to Fenwick, DE again we will be stopping by.

For the quantity of people coming in, they are a little scattered with seating. If you are up for the wait though, you will not be disappointed. My wife and I had probably the best seafood we have ever had, and the crab bisque was amazing. The margarita my wife got was a little weak and over compensated with too much lime, but the Sam Adams I got was ice cold and went with dinner perfectly. THe Key lime for dessert was one of the best i have had. Overall pretty dang good.

Excellent. Great service. I had the halibut special. It was seared and outstanding. My wife had the scallops. They were off the hook great! Great place at the beach.

I'm Hooked. Spending July 4th week in Ocean City, MD is at its best a sea of humanity and when it comes to dinning, waiting in line for disappointing food and/or service. So it is with complete Shock and Awe that we discover Just Hooked. While no reservations are taken, the experience from door to table was exceptional. This white-table cloth (i think you can count the number of those on one hand in OC) had an active bar with comfortable seating and perfect service. But it is the food that shines here. Using the best of local produce, fresh fish it boast a menu and flavors that would stand up to the most discerning dinner in NYC, Chicago or DC. The Cioppino was filled with the most perfectly cooked fish, clams, scallops, shrimp and a surprise of sausage. The Surf&Turf of Short Ribs, Lobster and Kale was amazing and simply stated....We're Hooked.

Stopped for lunch during a rain shower. Beautifully decorated, very classy. We had the calamari, which was in a spicy sauce that I liked but my wife thought was too strong. We both had the fish tacos (excellent). We tried the Key Lime Pie (again excellent). Price was reasonable with Iced Tea coming to $38 plus tip. Service was good. This place is definitely worth another trip.

We stood around for 40 minutes waiting for a table, and it was completely worth the wait. My party ordered the asparagus salad with balsamic, bacon and tomatoes with scallops on top, and I ordered the fried oyster appetizer. Honestly, I remember my entree being good, but I can't stop thinking about those oysters. The light breading, the aioli on the side... my mouth waters just thinking about it. For as good a seafood spot as this is, you won't have to take out a second mortgage to pay the bill, either.

Love the open design of the restaurant...servers a bit slow and not really knowledgeable about the menu. I have been many time since they opened and have not had a bad meal. Scallops with grilled corn and grits..fabulous and I loved the corn/crab bisque. No reservations, so you may have to wait..but the bar is nice and you can have a cocktail while waiting. It seem the bar has a local feel, with it being the hip place to be in FI.

Thought this place was fantastic. The food was imaginative, the staff welcoming and professional. The outdoor area was very nice. We had a large party and every single one of us was pleased with our food and the service. Scallops are unbelievably good. Will definitely go again next time I'm in Fenwick.

I wish I could give 3.5 stars. I almost just want to give 4. The food was great except for a little balsamic overload, but the service was borderline ridiculous. We started with the fried oysters, mussels, and grilled asparagus salad. The oysters were perfecto, the mussels had a delicious pan-Asian vibe, and the asparagus salad was almost amazing. Almost, until we realized that it was drowned in balsamic reduction. A restaurant that specializes in farm (and ocean) to table should not be drowning fresh, flavorful produce in such a strong dressing. But, I gotta be honest, it was still pretty good. The entrees did not disappoint, for the most part. We had the blackened mahi, an amazing halibut special that was so fresh and light, and the scallops, which were, again, almost perfect, except for that damned balsamic reduction. Again. It was overkill, plain and simple. But the scallops themselves were cooked to absolute perfection, and the grits were completely addictive. Too much balsamic is annoying, but, quite simply, did not ruin this dish. It just made it a little less awesome. Our deserts were phenomenal--a blueberry buckle with ice cream, a lemon bar with coconut flake and blueberry compote, and ridiculously amazing key lime pie. All three were winners. Now the service. Jesus. It was insanely bad. The server didn't tell us about the specials--one of which was the halibut--but luckily we had seen it on a chalkboard inside. When we asked him about it, he gave us a semi-blank stare and then told us he couldn't remember what it was, but that he would go get us a printout. As the evening progressed, we kept noticing servers/food runners walking out (we were seated on the deck outside, which was lovely) with food and just kind of looking around until someone at a table exclaimed, "That's ours!". It was laughable. But it's a new restaurant with a young, first year staff, and they are sure to have some growing pains. The bottom line here is that I can't wait to go back to Just Hooked. I just hope that they work out the kinks with the service, and ditch that balsamic altogether.

Our meal at Just Hooked was probably the best dining experience I've had in a dozen years of visiting the Ocean City/Fenwick area. The restaurant is clearly popular -- we arrived at 7 pm on a Saturday night in January, and still had to wait 15 minutes for a table. Food quality was comparable to one of the top mid-priced restaurants in Washington. The menu offered an impressive array of mainly seafood-based dishes -- most of which were not shellfish-based. Also unusual for this area, the accompaniments were seasonal (things such as lentils, butternut squash and greens) as opposed to the usual potato or rice-based starches. Service was not up to big city standards, but much better than average for the beach -- capable, knowledgeable, and courteous. This said, the restaurant was not perfect. The tables are as jam-packed as any place in the middle of a big city (which probably helps keep the prices reasonable, as does the no-reservations policy), and there were some minor flaws in the food (undercooked greens, unevenly topped flatbreads). And it does not currently have a working website. But the overall experience here is way over the curve.

My mom and had lunch here on the advice of someone who raved about it. The server was very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. Mom had the lobster roll and pesto fries (yum!) - she is not a fries person, but scarfed them down. I had the warm butter nut squash salad over spinach with figs and bacon - delicious. Portion sizes were generous and very reasonably priced. Would love to go back again for dinner and cocktails as they had an interesting cocktail menu.

Having tried most of the restaurants in the Bethany, Fenwick , Rehoboth areas "Just Hooked" is one restaurant that I would return to when I am looking for a unique menu. Many of the restaurants at the beach have the same items on the menu which gets boring but this menu had many different combinations of food and lovely sauces. The bread was excellent as was the service. Be aware that it is not inexpensive and in some cases the amount of food was probably not worth the price. However, the quality was excellent and the creativity of the menu was exceptional. I would go back to " Just Hooked " to try some of the other interesting dishes. It is the closest we have come to gourmet at the beach!

Found them on Yelp sitting on the beach and wanting something more than a snack bar burger. FANTASTIC FOOD!! Hostess made terrific recommendations, 0.7 mi from the beach. Recommend the Mahi Mahi BLT, Fish Tacos, Hooked Arugula Salad and add the Seared Scallops. Calamari was a great starter. Made everyone withing 100 feet on the beach jealous. Will definitely visit again when I am at the beach. Thanks Yelp!

Great meal. A gem amongst the Fenwick strip on Coastal. Boasting local produce and such the menu is almost too sophisticated for it's surroundings. All Foodies will enjoy. New seasonal menu started up now with all sorts of flavorful combos. Apps, I had huge Cobb salad, tuna, bacon, fine grated hb egg, peas, romaine, wife had crab bisque w/ jalapeño and corn, she didn't even give up a spoonful!! Dinner, I had scallops with sides of grits, chorizo, fire roasted white corn and lightly sautéed baby spinach with a chipotle drizzle. Great flavors, big presentation, nice sized portion. Wife had skirt steak, grilled right ,med rare, shitake slivers and steamed baby white potatoes. Also excellent. One key lime pie enough for both. Shared a bottle wine($24),reasonable list, bill was $94. Well worth the meal. We ate late 8:45, early season no waiting. Nice layout inside, small bar, a few hightops, tight seating around dining room sections, but not terrible, open kitchen, little deck seating without any views but the street,I'd put up partitions of some sort. Clean,Classy, not really good for kids.I'll be back this season to try other items.

Based on Yelp Reviews, went here for lunch when on vacation. For Apps we ordered the calamari and the crab corn chowder soup. Both were very good. For main course: My wife enjoyed the fish and chips and I hammered down a softshell crab sandwich. Both came w/ tasty pesto fries. Overall, the Seafood was fresh, prices were reasonable and the wait staff was very helpful.

First time at this restaurant. We went for lunch. Loved it so much we went back for dinner the next night! The food is very well prepared and presented. At lunch I had the fried oysters - obviously prepared there, plump, fresh and on a wonderfuly bed of a grain salad that was just as tasty as the oysters. My partner had fish tacos, I actually liked them more. Succulent pieces of fish mixed with very fresh vegetables in a nice spicy sauce. I usually don't like fish tacos but these were definitely over the top. Dinner was even more than I hoped for. I had tilefish, something I love and rarely see on menus. They did not disappoint! Cooked perfectly with a very interesting dressing. Service is friendly and professional. And I was shocked at how low the price was for this quality. Definitely now my favorite in the O.C. area - beats out Grove Market, Fager's Island, Sunset Grille, and Nantucket.
